The difference in field of view between a 26+ mm lens and a 24 mm lens is substantial, I doubt if they could get away with calling a 26+ mm lens a 24 mm lens. But the lens(es) from this patent application may never see the light of day.

They use the exact focal length for APS-C lenses.
I think Zeiss prefers to be exact.

If you need to be convinced, just put your EF 1,4/35 on an extension tube.

Leica has a 28 f/1.8 Summilux in their Q-series, which is in fact a 25.6mm lens. With the lens profile applied it becomes a 27mm - close enough. Might be the same here. Digital correction as part of the design. I'll pass, as I already have a Leica Q3.
