Sigma officially launches the RF 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN Contemporary

Just as silly as expecting ILCs to be operational when submerged in water.

Let me repeat.

What I desire is to see Canikony specify the environmental conditions that they deem to be necessary to say something is weather and dust resistant so that those claims can be verified. Ideally that would be associated with some measuring system so that I and other users understand what if any difference there is better.

For example, is there a material difference between the claims between manufacturers? Or even between say what will be the R1, R3, and R5? If there was, don't you think that would be useful information for consumers?

Clearly cars operate in the wet but they don't have any need to have an IP rating for them.

Do you really want to have a debate about yet another car analogy?

You made it clear what you desire but it isn’t reasonable hence the feedback

I believe that you brought it up :)

Isn't it for the manufacturers to say if it is reasonable or not and not for us to guess? Unless you have done specific inside knowledge?
and you have answered your own question as the camera manufacturers have determined what is reasonable and they haven't provided any weather resistance measurements except for one OEM and only for one model.
