I loved the 7D, and while considering looking for a used 1DX, an upcoming surf competition pushed me over the edge into a 7DII. The extra reach with my 400mm IS was welcome. Even with 1.4X and 2X extenders, the 7D was the best choice for the distant action of surfing photography.

Those are some great Photos ephcto, but why not put them in the sports or 5DIII section, rather than the 7D MK II Sample Images section?

Here is a nice example of how sharp you can get with the right lens. In this case, a 400mm f2.8 IS with 2X Extender III>

Tex, once again thanks for showing us what the 400mm 2.8 can do, and now on a 7DII. Beautiful shots, and very informative.

As for ephcto, get that surfer's ear checked out, Dude. (Nice shots, though.)
